Geoengineering the Climate “Crisis”
By Shellie Troy
Yet another summer of communities being evacuated, people losing their homes, massive fires burning out of control, smoke-filled air for weeks on end, helicopters flying all day long like a war zone. Tremendous resources—human and financial—go into fighting fires that become larger, more volatile and greater in number every year. The strain on families, children, business, tourism, health, and taxpayers is excessive. We’re continually told the crisis is due to climate change, but this is not the true picture.
Recently, a Fire Chief told a CBC reporter the Bald Range wildfire near Summerland, BC, doubled in size so fast firefighters could do little but order over 12,000 residents to flee. “The fire exploded,” he said. CBC’s climate change commentator, Johanna Wagstaffe, said, “I’ve never seen anything like this as a meteorologist.” During California’s deadliest-ever fire season in 2018, their exasperated Fire Chief told reporters the “fire behaviour has changed; the fires are exploding.” And it gets worse. We’re now seeing fire tornadoes. And the ultimate sign that something is disastrously wrong: for a couple of hours on a hot Saturday night in August, the terrifying spectacle of over 7,000 lightning strikes pummelling southern BC.
What’s Really Fueling the Fires?
The reliably useless mainstream media explained away the storm, calling it “once-in-a-lifetime.” Here are the facts they will never tell: every year, for well over fifty years, flammable chemicals particular to geoengineering are sprayed into Earth’s atmosphere. According to Material Safety Data (MSD) sheets—which are the respected, globally harmonized standard of chemical reporting—the chemicals being sprayed are hostile to lightning, fire, water and firefighting.
Aluminum Particulate: “reacts violently and/or explosively with water, steam or moisture.” Barium: “Contact with water releases flammable gases which may ignite spontaneously.” Sulphur dioxide: “may explode if heated.” Silver Iodide: “excess heat is a condition to avoid—no data available for explosive limits.” Potassium Chloride: must be “kept away from heat or sources of ignition.” Aluminum Strontium: “should not be released into the environment. Do not allow product to reach ground water, water course or sewage system.” Manganese: “keep away from heat, sparks or open flames.” Titanium Oxide nano-particles: “must be kept away from open flames and sources of ignition.” Aluminum oxide: “avoid excessive heat.”
Keystone facts: the chemical industry makes $5 TRILLION in sales every year. They sell both the flammable chemicals that can cause explosive fires and the dry chemicals they advise are “suitable for extinguishing” them. The MSD sheets all have pages and pages of missing data. “Toxicological properties have not been fully investigated.” Effects on human health: “no information available.” Product flammability, burning rate, or explosion limits: “no information available.” Ecological information: “no information available.” No data for chemical stability or reactivity.
The Chemical Industry’s Missing Data
There’s data on chemical tests conducted on rabbits and guinea pigs: mortality rates were as high as 50%. All MSD sheets warn firefighters to take extreme precautions, including the “use of spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment,” a clear indication the chemical industry knows its chemicals filter down to the ground, to forests, to the soil, to our lungs, and to all the living beings with whom we share this planet. The atmosphere is not a closed system.
Climate is too complex for humans to fully comprehend; we cannot deploy computer-generated chemical meddling and expect no harmful consequences. The absence of toxicological data—and the pointed safety precautions for firefighters—suggests the chemical industry is protecting itself from future liability. The Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs has Cancer Prevention and Climate committees; are they cognizant of all of this?
How much moisture is stolen from the ecology in order to activate those huge aerial chemical fields? Why do so many shrubs and trees in my area have scorched sections where the leaf edges turn crispy, as if they’ve been shocked? Vegetable gardeners like myself are observing that the soil doesn’t hold water very well anymore. Is chemical saturation causing drought?
Furthermore, did the pine beetle calamity stem from a severe transpiration disruption that weakened the trees’ ability to fend off disease, allowing the pine beetle to overwhelm them? People living and working in this remote area are now reporting that other tree species—fir and spruce—are turning orange the way the pines did.
We all know the history of chemical industries claiming their products are safe and filling an important need, until harms become evident. Thalidomide, big tobacco, and opioids are three of many examples. Corruption repeats—industries typically ignore, deny, explain away, and cover up. Truth is held hostage by vested interests, profits and lawfare.
Other Governments Are Taking Action
To date, seven U.S. states have banned geoengineering. Another 32 states have legislation wending through the political system that will criminalize it, including: New Jersey’s Bill 4161 “seeks to ban the release of hazardous chemicals for geoengineering”; North Carolina’s Bill 362 “amends environmental laws to bar intentional chemical releases for weather or sunlight manipulation”; Montana “prohibits releasing chemicals to alter weather or sunlight intensity”; Florida is “protecting natural weather patterns.” Mexico has banned it. Countries in South America and Africa have banned it.
Geoengineering isn’t good enough for them; why is it good enough for us? Canada has no domestic laws prohibiting chemical experiments involving solar radiation, weather modification or climate intervention. What we have is a 1975 Canada/U.S. Weather Modification Treaty which should be updated using a paper shredder. Canada’s only oversight of our skies is the toothless Weather Modification Information Act, which politely asks that the Act’s administrator be informed of what’s already been done.
What’s Happening in Our Skies?
Where I live, we used to hear or see only a few jets per day. But in recent years, jets fly over constantly. The only days our town can reliably count on there being no spraying are Christmas Day and days with strong wind. Otherwise, chemicals are sprayed daily in grid patterns, as if the sky is being slashed by knives. The slashes then expand and bleed out until the sky is replaced by an ugly mash of slate grey. Living beneath a chemical dome never feels normal; clouds don’t behave the way they’re being forced to behave; the atmosphere does not make ramrod-straight lines that bleed out. I long for puffy cumulus pillows floating gracefully by in a healthy, blue sky.
Despite already knowing the answer, I asked AI if geoengineering was being done in southern BC. Proof positive that AI can lie like a thief: “chemtrails are conspiracy theory and misinformation.” What people see are “contrails due to all the airline traffic today.” My research also revealed that UBC’s Chemistry Department unabashedly advertises for cash donations. No Mom and Pop $20 donations, seeking amounts large enough for prohibitively expensive research, development and experimentation. Nothing says an extinction of ethics quite like a university website openly courting sweaty wads of cash. And who typically has wads of cash lying around? Organized crime, drug traffickers, fentanyl producers, money launderers—you know, the guys with a moral compass who bring peace and happiness everywhere they park their Hummers.
Skyward Wildfire Technologies, a start-up funded by the BC government, is “testing whether spraying specific particles into storm clouds can stop lightning strikes from hitting dry forests and starting wildfires.” Their website, slick with black graphics and little scientific detail, explains that “a small, precise amount of lightning reduction material is released into the storm.” Note the language hiding chemical names: “spraying specific particles” and “lightning reduction material.” Would that “precise amount” of testing involve the number 7,000?
Nothing about geoengineering bodes well. Unidentified actors have been caught doing aerial chemical spraying; are we guinea pigs in a game of unrestricted warfare? The same government that cannot fix an avalanche of problems like fentanyl overdoses, money laundering and runaway real estate prices has now funded chemical spraying start-ups in the name of climate “innovation” and a now-burgeoning “space economy.”
After a 20-minute deluge covered my property in four inches of water, which came right after being carpet-bombed by lightning for two hours, I couldn’t help but picture the party the “climate” chemists must be having. Late on a hot Saturday night in August, a fireworks display like never before. A bombardment of lightning strikes—delivered via satellite feeds and displayed on big TV screens—and party-goers hitting pause and replay, again and again. It would have felt a bit god-like to see their handiwork come to such a spectacular conclusion. Why, they were hotshot directors of an action-packed movie heavy with special effects! That ought to attract investment! What music went best with the show? Were the cocktail glasses space-age themed?
The Crisis Behind the Crisis
In geoengineering, two fictions mutually reinforce each other. The first fiction is that humans can cool the planet by spraying flammable, explosive chemicals to push and dominate natural weather systems. The second fiction, deriving from the first fiction, is that explosive wildfires and weather bombs—like a month’s worth of rain in a day in southern Ontario, or 7,000 strikes of lightning in 2 hours in southern BC—are evidence of climate crisis and not evidence of reckless chemical interference.
Time to remove climate change from the clutches of a massively profitable chemical-industrial-complex; time to disassemble the climate crisis narrative and get out from under its chokehold. We urgently need to adopt the “precautionary principle” and ban chemical geoengineering from our skies. For gawd’s sake, get on this, contact your MPs, MLAs and anybody else willing to listen and ask them to please help stop the insanity.
