Absurdity Observer – March 2025
- According to the Canadian Taxpayer Federation, Governor General Mary Simon pocketed a $15,200 pay raise this year, bumping her annual salary for 2025 up to $378,000. On top of her annual salary, the governor-general receives a range of lucrative perks, including a taxpayer-funded mansion, a platinum $150,000-a-year pension, a $130,000 clothing budget, paid dry cleaning services and lavish travel expenses. In 2022, Simon’s travel sparked multiple controversies, including a $100,000 bill for in-flight catering during a weeklong trip to the Middle East, and her $71,000 bill at IceLimo Luxury Travel during a four-day trip to Iceland. During Simon’s first year on the job, she spent $2.7 million on travel alone.
- The president of South Africa has signed a controversial law allowing land seizures by the state without compensation. The South African bill, the New Expropriation Act, will purportedly, “help the state take back land to address disparities in ownership that were caused by decades of racist apartheid rule.”
- The human brain may contain up to a spoon’s worth of microplastics—not a spoonful, but the same weight (about seven grams) as a plastic spoon, according to new findings published in the journal Nature Medicine (Nihart et al.). “Unbelievable” is how the researchers of the cadaver study themselves described the finding. The researchers also found that microplastic concentrations were higher in the brains of deceased patients who had been diagnosed with dementia compared to the brains of deceased individuals without dementia.

- Bill Winters, the CEO of Standard Chartered Bank, admitted at the 2025 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in Davos that “we make a lot of money” on the Net-Zero agenda and that “it’s a big business for us … and it’s a profitable business.” He noted that projections indicate that the Bank will profit a billion dollars off the Net-Zero agenda by next year on services such as loans and investments.
- A groundbreaking study by Yale researchers (Bhattacharjee et al.) now confirms what many suspected: countless individuals labeled as Long COVID patients are actually suffering from post-vaccination syndrome, a condition triggered by prolonged exposure to the spike protein produced by COVID vaccines. The study confirms that the spike protein—claimed by health authorities to be harmless and short-lived—has been found lingering in vaccinated individuals for up to 709 days. The highest levels were observed in people who had never been infected with COVID but had received mRNA vaccines.
- A House Judiciary Committee report has revealed that Bank of America handed over account details of hundreds of innocent customers in connection with the January 6 riots at the US Capitol. At the FBI’s request, the nation’s second-largest bank allegedly scrutinized transactions of individuals in and around Washington before and after the riots. This isn’t the first time the FBI has collaborated with financial institutions to target Americans with conservative views or Second Amendment interests. A 2024 report by the same committee found that the FBI worked with Barclays, US Bank, Charles Schwab, HSBC, Bank of America, and PayPal to identify potential “domestic violent extremists” by filtering transactions for terms like “MAGA” and “TRUMP,” as well as purchases from outlets such as Cabela’s, Bass Pro Shop, and Dick’s Sporting Goods.
- According to a recent Wikileaks report, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) allocated over $472 million to The Internews Network, an media organization that supports the censorship of content labeled as “disinformation.”
- Striking new study links childhood vaccines to 80% of autism cases in the US. Published in Science, Public Health Policy and the Law (Mawson et al.), the peer-reviewed study analyzed Florida Medicaid data for 47,155 nine-year-olds and found a striking “dose-response” relationship between the number of vaccine visits and the risk of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders—meaning the more vaccines a child received, the greater their risk of developing autism. The authors also note that the CDC’s vaccine schedule has expanded from 24 doses in the 1980s to over 70 today, a change they suggest may be driving the increase in autism rates, which now affect 1 in 36 children compared to 1 in 1,000 in the 1990s.
- New research suggests that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, has caused significant harm to the health of newborns in rural areas, particularly over the last two decades. The study (Reynier et al.) from the University of Oregon found that glyphosate exposure increased the likelihood of preterm births (and associated serious long-term health risks, including infant mortality, developmental disabilities, and chronic conditions like diabetes and obesity) by 2.14%.
- A peer-reviewed study by The McCullough Foundation estimates the death toll of the COVID vaccine to be as high as 589,868 in the US. Hulscher et al., published in the journal Science, Public Health Policy and the Law, also noted that over 81,000 physicians, scientists, researchers, and concerned citizens, along with 240 elected officials, 17 professional organizations, 2 state Republican parties, and 17 Republican county committees, have issued formal calls for vaccine withdrawal.
- The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) announced that it has purchased 500,000 doses of an avian influenza vaccine for humans. PHAC referred to the purchase as its “initial” supply of GSK’s Arepanrix H5N1 A/America vaccine, implying more may be to come.
- The ArriveCan app scandal deepens. A government audit has now found that Coradix Technology Consulting Ltd. and Dalian Enterprises, which won federal contracts under the Indigenous business program, failed to meet key Indigenous ownership and control requirements. This is in addition to the RCMP investigating fraud and bribery after discovering that 76% of listed subcontractors did no work on the $60 million project.
- A study published in the International Journal of Vaccine Theory, Practice, and Research (Diblasi et al.) reveals startling findings: “At least 55 undeclared chemical elements”—including toxic arsenic, aluminum, and mercury—were detected in COVID-19 shots. The groundbreaking analysis used Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) to uncover the cocktail.
